Scorpions are venomous invaders with a creepy appearance. Their stings can cause severe health issues, and lasting pain. They are very common in parts of the desert south-west, especially in St. George. The most common species to encounter is the Arizona Bark Scorpion, known for its potent venom, giving it the ranking of North America’s deadliest and most venomous scorpion.
Arizona Bark Scorpion
- Appearance: Pale yellow-tan, 2–3 inches long, thin pincers
- Behavior: Excellent climbers; often found on walls, ceilings, and inside homes
- Danger: The most venomous scorpion in North America
Striped Tail Scorpion (Devil Scorpion)
- Appearance: Tan with dark stripes on the tail
- Behavior: More likely to be found outdoors under debris or in garages
- Danger: Painful sting, but less toxic than the Bark Scorpion
Giant Hairy Scorpion
- Appearance: Large (up to 5 inches), hairy, dark brown
- Behavior: Typically stays outdoors but may enter garages or sheds
- Danger: Intimidating but not highly venomous
Why Scorpions Are Dangerous
- Venomous Stings: Some stings are painful but harmless, while others (like the Bark Scorpion’s) can cause numbness, difficulty breathing, or serious allergic reactions
- Nighttime Activity: Scorpions are nocturnal and often come inside seeking shelter or water
- Hard to Spot: They hide in cracks, crawlspaces, under rocks, in shoes, and even bedding
- Resilient Invaders: They can slip through gaps as small as 1/16 of an inch
How We Handle Scorpions: Barrier Protection + Entry Reduction
We use a multi-step approach that targets scorpions directly and addresses the conditions that attract them.
Our Scorpion Treatment Process:
- Inspection: Locate hiding places, entry points, and attractants (like moisture or insect prey)
- Perimeter Treatment: Apply a specialized pesticide barrier around the exterior of the home
- Crack & Crevice Injection (optional): Interior wall voids and exterior block walls
- Integrated Pest Management: Provide guidance to reduce scorpion activity
- Insect Control: Reduce insect activity, thus removing scorpions’ primary food source
Why Our Method Works:
- Safe for Homes & Families: Low-toxicity formulas that are safe for kids and pets
- Long-Lasting Protection: Treatments remain active for weeks to prevent re-entry
- Localized Expertise: We know the species and behavior patterns in your region
